Crystal Ball Entertainment is a full service entertainment company specializing in Artist Management, Development, Tour Coordination, Product Placement, Corporate Sponsorship and Promoter Representation: Owned and Operated by Debra Hughes, President and CEO.

Prior to CB Entertainment, Debra was the founder and owner of Genaia Entertainment Group located in Los Angeles, CA from 1988 - 2000. In 2000, Debra took a full-time job at Twentieth Century Fox for a long term contract and could not fulfill the daily duties of running a company and holding a full-time job with so much responsibility attached. Debra sacraficed her love for an Indie owned company to be more at home and off the road. A stable job with a comparable salary pulled her into the film industry. She jumped in with both feet. By the end of 2000, Trimark Pictures was vying for her attention as they were going through a merger with the now Oscar winning company Lions Gate Films. Debra was offered a long term contract to validate the entire library of Trimark Pictures for the impending merger with Lions Gate Films, (LGF). Upon completion of the validation mid-summer of 2000, Debra was offered the option a super bonus of a great position with a company that had great promise. Who would know better than the woman who had validated their library. With stock options in hand and a great salary, Debra took over the entire library of Lions Gate Films inclusive of the Trimark library she validated.

Personal Notes from the President Included Below: From her mouth! How I remember it!

On the heels of the merger came the Oscar nomination for "Shadow of the Vampire," distributed by Lions Gate Films, (see I told you I saw a winner in this company!). They didn't win that year in 2000, but to be nominated was a great honor. They had won an Oscar for "Gods and Monsters" the previous year. But in 2001, my gamble paid off; Monster Ball was produced and released. Then came the Oscars and the Best Actress going to Halle Berry. Man I had never been so proud. By being a department head, I went to all the film premiers and met all the major players and actors. I had the honor of spending time with Halle at a private premier which she and her aunts attended for Lions Gate's Music Department. In 2003, while LGF was amassing a larger library, I longed for Independence. I found myself where everyone does after the excitement wears off, "Oh God get me out of here." Don't get me wrong, I love LGF and they love me! My mentor and boss, the Chief General Council and Executive V.P., helped me see that I was better off doing what I love, consulting others. I had done what I came to do and the big excitement was gone! I was offered the opportunity to consult with Ruff Ryders and leaped at the chance. Mr. Michael Baisden is one of the top rated syndicated radio host around, and love him or hate him he is the baddest man on radio. I heard about Michael Baisden from Gloria Pollard after she asked me if I knew him, Michael & myself went to the same high school in Chicago. Michael grew up in "London Town" on the east side with my cousin Belinda Pollard, I had not heard of him so I let it go, so a week later I saw his picture on the back of the Bus, I said let me check him out I changed the station to his radio show "Love, Lust & Lies" and haven`t changed since. The radio show was so original, and it was grown folks radio that cater to and older audience playing music that no other radio station would play. I heard him say that he would be starting a segment called "The B Side" were he would promote artists on his radio show that need a voice, the neo soul artists, I couldn`t believe it I had to act fast I sent in Pru`s CD I just knew he would love it. I will never forget the first B Side Show with "Lina" it was great, the artists finally had a voice, he had on and artist named Raheem DeVaughn who I never heard of and his album was great, Conya Doss was on the show never heard of her great artist, then one saturday I got a call on my cell phone from Michael Baisden himself, he loved Pru`s Album and he wanted her on "The B Side" I called Pru and asked her did she get a call from Michael, and she did this was totally a gift from God, Michael Baisden continues to help so many artists in the music business he has become a household word, everybody was talking about "The B Side" it`s a winner I take my hat off to Michael Baisden for pathing the way for me & Madison Media.

Who`s That Lady? Pru

Everybody always ask me, Who`s That Lady? The young lady`s name is Pru,I met Ms. Pru back in 1994, she came to Los Angeles to follow her dream on becoming be a singer. I never heard Pru perform live until she sung "Baby it`s You" at Donald and Sandra wedding & she blew everybody away, after the wedding everybody was talking about Pru, and her performance. I got a call about a month later that "Capitol Records" signed Pru to a record deal. Her manager Roy Lott really believed in her vision, on the type of album & style she wanted to project. The focus was place on Pru`s writing & vocal style, the fact that she`s beautiful was not the main focus. Pru wanted to be known for her talent as a vocalist, not just another pretty face & she proves it with her album, which is a classic totally original. Pru took her act on tour, and I saw her perform at "Luna Park" in California & "E2 "in Chicago, and she performs like a true pro, that`s been in the music business for years; and the Band was off the hook. The reason I really like Pru, is the fact that she didn`t let the fame go to her head, when she`s not performing she`s just a normal young lady. I remember her going into a record store, and asking for her album, the young man didn`t even know it was her until she told him. I sent her album to Michael Baisden, radio talk show host to be on The B Side, and he loved it & call me & Pru personally to be on his radio show. Pru & her New Band performed at Michael`s Live Party in L.A. July 16, 2006 she continues to move forward, and she`s not looking back.

Meeting "Dre Allen"

Being on myspace you meet a lot of artists, and hear a lot of music, but there are some artists that really stand out. Dre Allen is a artists that stands out from the rest, he does things his way when it comes to making music, and I have to say it`s interesting. I met Dre Allen at BB Kings, in Hollywood California when he invited "Pru" to come check out his show. Dre Allen loves "Pru" album, and we got a chance to meet him after the show, they just might work together in the future. I bought the CD, and the hit song "Fly" with Dawn Robinson really stand out, and shows off his talents. I heard a couple of tracks from his new album, and trust me it`s a winner, it`s a shame that talented artists have to go thru so much, to get there voice heard. Keep pushing forward Dre Allen, your hard work will pay off.

Jennifer Hudson a True Idol

I just love Jennifer Hudson, this young lady has class & really knows how to carry herself as a young lady. I first saw Jennifer Hudson on "Gospel Star Search" in Chicago, she made it to the finals and came in third place. I knew she would become a star, I said to myself she should be on American Idol. When the new season of American Idol started I was so excited after seeing Jennifer Hudson on I said she will be in the top 12, she had her ups & downs, but she was a class act all the way thru. I could not believe it when Jennifer got voted off, I was so mad after voting with the home phone and cell phone, and I was happy everybody else felt the same way I did. Jennifer is a true talent, and when she came home to Chicago, she had a party at Eclipse Night Club, and I was right there, she was so nice to everyone. She asked me if I wanted a picture with her,I said yes but she had to rush to the stage to sing. I`m so happy to see a young lady that lived on the south side of Chicago make it to star status. Jennifer Hudson you are a true Idol to me. Mr. Madison

The Age of Myspace, Youtube & Snapvine

I was told about myspace a couple of years ago, and I decided to log on. It was a cyber world unlike any other, it draws you in, and once you go myspace there is no turning back. I just love the fact that there is a place were everybody all around the world can come together in one place to talk, sell, promote. Myspace give you the power as and artists to promote your talent. The record companies use to have all the power, they decided what artists got played on the radio, and who to promote in the record stores, but the power has changed, you have Myspace to showcase your music, Youtube is a place were you can post your own live show or music video for everyone to see. Jody Watley used this to promote her music video, and it was successful. Now there is Snapvine, were you can record your own voice on your own personal answering machine for the world to interact with you. I love this new world, we have the power.
